ATLANTA -- Approximately 30 dead snakes and other animals were found inside a passenger’s packages that were on a flight from South Korea earlier this week, Transportation Security Administration officials said Thursday.Officers Christopher Hendricks and Dennis Madaris found the dead snakes packed inside jars and bottles. "I have found snakes before but what surprised me about this was how many there were," Hendericks said. The officers also found a dead bird and pieces of other birds.Security manager Sharnette Everson praised the officers’ handling of the situation."They knew right away to call attention to what they found," she said. "You can find animals, animal parts, anything on flights that arrive from overseas, so we have been trained on what to look for and how to safely handle what we find," Madaris said. The passenger, who arrived in Atlanta on a flight from Seoul, South Korea, faces a possible fine. The animals were handed over to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
