CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Clayton County investigators are searching for a suspect wanted in a case of animal abuse.

Officers said a dog named Sparky was dragged behind a pickup truck in Clayton County.

Witnesses were able to get the dog loose, but the driver of the truck sped off.

Sparky is now in the care of Carolyn Baars, a volunteer with Atlanta Pet Rescue, and is recovering from his injuries.

"Our goal is to reach $10,000 for the reward fund, hoping that that amount of money will touch someone's heart enough that they're going to report who did this," Baars said.

Sparky will eventually be put up for adoption once he is completely recovered.
