PALMETTO, Ga. -- Firefighters extinguished a huge fire Friday night at a junkyard in south Fulton County.Investigators said dozens of junked cars burned at Best Auto Salvage on Gullat Road in Palmetto earlier Friday afternoon.Firefighters said foam from the cars' seats and rubber from the cars' tires fueled the flames, which burned for hours."It's a vehicle fire times 50," said Fulton County Chief Fire Marshal Keith Padgett. The smoke could be seen for miles.Mark Parrish, who owns a shop next door to the unkyard, said a worker accidentally started the fire."He made a small cut on something he shouldn't have cut and sparked a small flame," Parrish said.Fire officials were concerned about gasoline and other chemicals running off into the water, but Friday night, they said the area was safe.No injuries were reported.
