1st Annual Celebrity Dance Challenge

Event Description: Fashioned after hit shows like So You Think You Can Dance TM and Dancing with the Stars TM, local Atlanta non-profit, EDIN – The Eating Disorders Information Network and Dance 101, have joined forces with to create the Celebrity Dance Challenge TM.

Local Atlanta celebrities will partner with Dance 101 teachers and compete by dancing for your votes! Winners of EDIN’s 1st Annual Celebrity Dance Challenge TM will be determined by the number of fan votes received. Anyone can vote for their favorite celebrity for as little as $1 per vote!

Votes will be collected both online for the months preceding the event and during the final performance in November 19, 2009. Tickets to the final performance are $25 plus taxes and box office fees. Georgia Lawyers for the Arts

Event Description: Georgia Lawyers for the Arts is a non-profit existing to provide free legal services to artists and arts organizations across Georgia. Our main source of funding comes from our annual gala and silent auction which will be held this year on November 20 at the beautiful Mason Murer gallery. In attendance will be lawyers, artists, and supporters of the arts from across the state. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Swivel, catering by Figs and Honey. Additionally, there will be an open bar, and the silent auction will feature celebrated artists from around the state.

Event Description: Atlantic Station officially kicks-off weeks of wholesome holiday entertainment with the 4th annual Lighting of Atlantic Station on Saturday, November 21. The annual event is Atlanta’s very first tree lighting of the year, flipping the switch on more than 250,000 twinkling lights and transforming the vibrant community into a winter wonderland.

The Lighting of Atlantic Station this year features a full day of festive activities beginning at 2:00 pm with street performers, a miniature children’s train ride, children’s craft activities, an open-air holiday market, musical performances, a holiday fashion show and a free screening of the classic film, How the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.

The tree lighting ceremony will commence at 7:30 pm with performances by The Alliance Theater, “Panache” from The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus and the Georgia State Brass Ensemble, as well as appearances from local celebrities, the arrival of Santa Claus and the lighting of Atlantic Station’s 50-foot tall Holiday Tree in Central Park.

Event Description: The Georgia Ballet will ring in the holidays with their adaptation of the beloved classic The Nutcracker. Dreams do come true in this delightful holiday story. A colorful production of dancing snowflakes, giant mice, and delicious candies will enchant audiences young and old. Follow Clara and her Nutcracker on Christmas Eve as they battle the evil Mouse King, then travel through the snow to the magical Kingdom of the Sweets. The Nutcracker features choreography by Iris Hensley, the founder of The Georgia Ballet, which is currently celebrating its 50th year of operation.
