Georgia DT Owens Will Return For 2009

POSTED: 12:21 pm EST December 19, 2008

(Sports Network) - Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Jeff Owens will return for his senior season in 2009.

Owens was considered a possibility to enter the 2009 NFL draft as a junior, but he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Bulldogs' season opener against Georgia Southern.

"I love college and I'm glad to be here, and one more year is not going to hurt me," said Owens. "I've got an opportunity to play here next year, and this is a great university. I'm looking forward to having a big senior year."

The No. 16 Bulldogs are playing in the Capital One Bowl against Michigan State on Jan. 1.
