NCAA Game Summary - The Citadel At Georgia Southern

Statesboro, GA -- (Sports Network) - Demetrius Nelson recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards, as The Citadel Bulldogs handled the Georgia Southern Eagles, 74-53, in Southern Conference action at the Hanner Fieldhouse. Nelson also made all 12 of his free-throw attempts, as the Bulldogs (20-11, 15-5 SoCon) captured only their second-ever 20-win campaign. Cameron Wells also had a big night for The Citadel and he finished with 20 points and three steals. Antonio Hanson guided GSU (8-21, 5-15) in the loss with 14 points and a pair of steals. Ben Drayton had 11 points and five boards, as the Eagles fell for the 11th time in 12 outings. Behind 56.5 percent shooting from the floor in the first period, The Citadel was able to capture a 34-22 halftime lead. The Bulldogs connected on 20-of-25 free throws in the second half and that sealed the 21-point triumph. The Citadel, which never trailed in the game, claimed the second seed in the South Division and a first round bye in the upcoming league tournament with the win tonight.
