Athens, GA -- (Sports Network) - Trey Thompkins registered a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds, leading the Georgia Bulldogs over the New Orleans Privateers, 67-59, in non-conference play at Stegeman Coliseum. Thompkins dropped in 7-of-11 shots from the floor and 8-of-9 at the foul line, making a winner of Mark Fox his debut as head coach of the program. Jeremy Price went a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor on his way to 12 points for Georgia (1-0), while Chris Barnes grabbed 11 boards. Leading the way for New Orleans (0-1) was Charles Carmouche, who turned in 20 points and five assists. Jaroslav Tyrna added 16 points and seven boards, and Billy Humphrey chipped in with 11 points against his former team. The Bulldogs made 12 free throws and 41.7 percent of their field goals in the opening half, taking a 34-32 lead to the break. In the second stanza, Georgia shot 48.0 percent from the floor on its way to the eight-point win. On the night, the Bulldogs dominated the boards, 41-27, helping them hold a 17-0 advantage in second-chance points.
