Athens, GA -- (Sports Network) - The University of Georgia has reportedly hired Nevada's Mark Fox as the team's new head basketball coach.According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Fox will be introduced at a news conference Friday morning at 11 a.m. (et) Fox has been the coach of the Wolf Pack for the last five seasons, compiling a 123-43 record, including 21-13 in 2008-09. He coached Nevada to three NCAA Tournament berths in the last four seasons but failed to reach the postseason at the conclusion of this campaign. He had previously served as an assistant in Nevada from 2000-04 before becoming the head coach and also had stints as an assistant at Washington and Kansas State, dating back to 1991. Fox will replace Dennis Felton, who was fired in the middle of his sixth season with the Bulldogs. Felton went 84-91 in his time in Athens and led the team to an improbable conference tourney championship in 2007-08, before losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The team was 0-5 in conference play at the time of his dismissal. Georgia had first targeted Missouri head coach Mike Anderson, but he recently signed a new seven-year extension to stay with the Tigers.
