Athens, GA -- (Sports Network) - Devan Downey scored a game-high 23 points to lead the South Carolina Gamecocks to a 68-51 win over the Georgia Bulldogs in SEC action at Stegeman Coliseum. Downey made good on 9-of-17 shots from the field , handed out eight assists and grabbed four rebounds for the Gamecocks (21-8, 10-6 SEC) as they snapped a two-game slide to close out the regular season. Zam Fredrick added 15 points, Evaldas Baniulis 11 and seven boards off the bench, while Mike Holmes registered a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the triumph. The Bulldogs (12-19, 3-13) were paced by Trey Thompkins and Chris Barnes who scored 10 points apiece and combined to clear 17 rebounds as the squad suffered its second loss in the last three outings. Both teams had trouble shooting the ball from the field in the first half, but a mere 9-of-36 by Georgia, including a miserable 1-of-11 behind the three- point line, left the home team with a 27-23 deficit at the break. In the second half the Bulldogs again struggled with just 30 percent accuracy from the floor, en route to the 17-point setback. Georgia shot only 4-of-22 from behind the three-point line on the afternoon and suffered 19 turnovers.
